History

Founded in July 2001 by Adam Martin and Stuart Dungworth from Sheffield. The Coffee Project imported its first tonne of green coffee beans from Malawi after raising over £3000 through donations to cover the purchase and shipping costs.

Since then we have continued to trade and raise funds to support projects in Ghana and Malawi. However, we no longer import coffee ourselves as the green beans are imported into the UK, and roasted, by The Northern Tea Merchants of Chesterfield. The Coffee Project purchases and sells the coffee, with the profits made being used to assist specific projects in Malawi & Ghana.

Structure

The Coffee Project consists of two companies

The Coffee Project Trading Company Limited (Ltd. Company No 4257940) is run by two voluntary directors. Through it we aim to to sell coffee imported from the developing world at a fair price returning all its profits to the charity.

The Coffee Project Limited (The Coffee Project )is a registered charity (Reg charity No 1093447) that has complete ownership of Coffee Project Trading Company Limited. Run by four voluntary trustees its only objectives are to relieve poverty and sickness and to advance education in the developing world.
